College student stabs friend to death

RAJKOT: A collegian stabbed his friend to death in broad daylight at Hiramoti Chowk in the city on April 29 over an argument over unpaid debt.
The Amreli police have arrested Jaymin Ramnai, 22, a college student residing at Chakkargadh road, for killing Mayur Samani, 22, of Mithapur in Jamnagar district.
According to the investigation officer, V Captain, there were many eyewitnesses.Ramnai said in his confession that he became friends with Samani when he came to meet his maternal uncle last year. Ramnai borrowed Rs 25,000 from Samani, but never kept his promise to return it. On April 29, they discussed the matter almost for an hour after which Ramnai stabbed Samani in the chest in a fit of rage. Samani died due to excessive bleeding.
The police have recovered blood-stained clothes and the murder weapon from Ramnai, who has been remanded in police custody.
The police are investigating whether there was any other reason behind the killing.
